3rd Place Winner of Jovoto's LifeEdited Competition, 2010.
Contest Description: Design a jewel box of an ultra-low-footprint apartment in 420sf. The design should support the life of a real person in the apartment - someone who would work, eat, live, and entertain.
D2R Solution: A single, compact cube of joinery 8ft 3 x 11ft 2 (2.5m x 3.4m). Prefabricate-able; mass produce-able; available in any number of finishes... and when you don't need it in the space anymore: disassemble it and install it somewhere else.
From Graham Hill, TreeHugger founder and project client: 'Alex Whitcroft (and Jennifer Martin) crafted one of a few LifeEdited schemes that featured a tightly designed box within a box. This scheme was very nicely detailed and one could see it being easily applied to many an apartment, thereby achieving really high marks in terms of replicability.'
