TIMBERFRAME

Nestled in a pedestrian neighborhood of Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, this structure began it's humble beginnings in 1998 as the second building built at the new Ecovillage. The original cabin, Built by Aaron and Halle, is a simple 15'x30' timber framed strawbale cabin, with a short loft on the western half. Constructed on piers, with a simple roof line and a facade of lime plaster, this simple natural building has served a variety of uses since it was built, including office, storage, and finally home for Jennifer.

Needing additional space for a growing family and business, Jennifer embarked on a major expension to the structure in 2008. Adding nearly three times the total square footage to the original building, Jennifer designed and managed construction of a complex series of spaces to meet needs of the family and D2R.

Adding three bedrooms, one of which is an apartment accessed from outside, a kitchen, bathroom, dining room, living room, outdoor kitchen, garden, deck, workshop and multiple outdoor social spaces, the entire building was designed with change in mind.
